I did not cry after Hitler!
Filmed in 2004 film "Der Untergang" - "Downfall", which is a biographical drama of war, this work is extremely interesting and also very controversial. The film is an adaptation of "Inside Hitler's Bunker" J. Festa and "From Hitler to the end of" T. Junge (Ms. Junge was a personal secretary of the Nazi dictator, accompanying him in the bunker, and observing the dramatic events of 1945). Subject "Fall" revolves around the last few days of Adolf Hitler and his close associates.
"Der Untergang" starts with a brief T. Junge true statement, which - from the perspective of several decades - recalls and assesses its work for the leaders of the Third Reich. Then we have the narrative reconstruction of memories of Hitler's secretaries: along with the Junge observe what is happening in the Fuhrer's bunker. A lot is happening, especially in psychikach main characters. The Nazis because they know that losing the war, but the approach to this issue in many ways. Part of the Nazis
evaluate your situation realistic - those Germans are aware that they could not defeat the Allies and that they can fight only to save their own lives. Others, such as Eva Braun and Adolf Hitler himself, soap his eyes, trying to believe that many failures are transient. There are also those who - despite all the signs in the heavens and the earth - uncritically believe in victory, dazzle and martial enthusiasm, sharply criticized defeatism.
Over time, when the Soviet expansion into the Reich progresses, the characters are becoming more pessimistic. Excel wills, they think about their families, mourn, summarize their own achievements, he reflects on the go is with honor and future world. While earlier urged Hitler to leave Berlin, it is now - when the Nazi leader decided to stay in the bunker - to decide whether to flee the capital, or perish together with the Fuhrer. Naturally, this raises a dilemma, because the characters have different hierarchies of values \u200b\u200band different ways to approach life and death.
Around the raging war, the people of Berlin last ounce of strength to defend its cities against the Russians, but no longer have any chance of success. Still someone is killed and injured, there are even suicide and murder at the request of victims. Constantly there are questions about honor, patriotism and loyalty against superiors, however, there is no clear answer on it. Berlin is destroyed, the soldiers lost, the commander gradually lose faith in the possibility of victory.
As I said, "Der Untergang" - "The Fall" is a controversial film. On the one hand, it is very moving and profound psychological viewpoint, the Nazis did not show as empty, stupid, bloodthirsty beasts, just as human beings endowed with feelings and profess certain values. On the other hand, it is a manipulation, because the game is on the emotions and encourages consumers to identify with the Nazis. A veritable brainwashing and stupidity of viewers, especially those who have not experienced the atrocities of World War II.
In the drama "Downfall," the Nazis were portrayed as being quite nice, deserving of compassion, loving and worried about their neighbors. In my opinion, such a picture of the Nazis is dangerous because it encourages customers to litowania over the executioners, and conceals their crimes and wickedness. "Der Untergang" tells the story in a biased and unfair, presents the facts solely from the point of supporters of Adolf Hitler, focusing on their advantages or pseudozaletach, hides the grim truth about the criminal activities of this political formation.
from the movie "Downfall" emerges a picture of the Fuhrer as an unhappy, lost, mentally ill individual who does not know what exactly it says and what demands from his subordinates. Hitler recalls TragiKomicznego harlequin, being grotesque - a funny and touching at the same time. It is fragile and weak like an old man, because the stress caused by failures and impending disaster are denied health and crushes it like a Hugo-Know-What-Burden.
Watching "Der Untergang, "the recipient has the impression that the director is trying to justify any price leader of the Third Reich, and his henchmen to do with the vulnerable people. The filmmaker shows crying happy Nazis, not the people who cried for them (at least in the Auschwitz-Birkeneu). Of course, this does not change the fact that "Downfall" - a film production - is a very enjoyable and interesting. Drama itself is good, it looks nice, but after seeing the thinking viewer has a sense of zlasowania brain.
In the present review is not about criticizing the well-shot film, only anticipating the impacts it may cause. Another such production, even a mention of the "Polish concentration camps" in the Western media, and global public opinion really believe in "noble" and "innocence" German Nazis and dump the blame on the Poles. I am very worried because it is a falsification of history, combined with a whitewash of crimes and defame innocent people. I do not want the public looked on Adolf Hitler and his associates through the prism of "Der Untergang". I just do not want and now.
Can I recommend "The Fall" to their readers? Well, yes and no. "Der Untergang", as the medium of film, is brilliant and remarkable. But as a carrier of historical content is dangerous, and - in the long run - worthless. I have no way to prohibit the readers see this production. I can only ask that interacted with the drama of caution and not to take the vision of the director as the "only right".
